Open the link above
Enter:
- Your South African ID number
- Your Application ID (reference number)
- Type your new cellphone number
- Submit
- Enter the OTP code sent to your new number
Done - number updated
Important (don't skip)
- OTP is mandatory for verification
- Use your own number only
- Update may take up to ~14 days
- If you don't have Application ID → get it from status page on main site: https://srd.sassa.gov.za
SASSA change phone number on WhatsApp?
Short answer: You cannot change your SASSA SRD phone number on WhatsApp
- SASSA does NOT offer WhatsApp service for changing SRD phone numbers
- Phone number changes require secure verification (OTP or biometric)
- WhatsApp is not used for official SRD updates or account changes
How to change SRD phone number without Application ID (simple & complete)
Short answer
You can still change it, but first you must recover your Application ID OR contact SASSA
Method 1 (main & easiest)
Go to SRD site:
Go to Status Check page
Enter:
- Your ID number
- Your old phone number
Your Application ID will appear
Now use it to change your number on: https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/contact
Method 2 (if you don't have old number)
You cannot retrieve Application ID online without old number
So do this:
- Call SASSA: 0800 60 10 11
- OR visit a SASSA office
- They will verify your identity and give you your application ID, use that to change phone number
